Roberto’s practice centers on art law, intellectual property law, and general commercial law. Roberto is involved in due diligence and litigation, with extensive experience in IP and arts transactional work. His clients include artists, art advisors, authors, collectors, galleries, performers, publishers, designers, and photographers.

Roberto’s background in the arts, which includes more than a decade as a professional photographer and MFA studies at the School of Visual Arts, brings first-hand knowledge of the art and creative worlds to his law practice.

Roberto has represented clients in matters related to authenticity, title, forfeiture, copyright infringement, trademark cancelations, breach of contract, and violation of the New York Arts and Cultural Affairs Law. Roberto’s transactional work includes negotiating gallery leases, artist representation, consignments, art sales, art loans, security, licensing, publishing, among other agreements.

Roberto holds an LLB from Mexico City’s Universidad Iberoamericana and an LLM Intellectual Property and Information Technology from Fordham University School of Law.

Roberto is Of-Counsel to Drohan Lee LLP.

Roberto is admitted to practice law in New York and Mexico and is a native bilingual in Spanish and English.
